To celebrate their centennial year, the OSSTF desired a sustainable, healthy, expanded multi-tenant office headquarters, featuring a Community Engagement design process and Adaptive Re-Use with sensitive, mass-timber additions, to last for another century.
Sustainable is proud to have worked with the client as the Feasibility Architect on the planning of their new headquarters.
Located on a prime site next to the Don Valley, this envisioned mass timber office building was planned to be an ultra-green, healthy, and energy-efficient facility.
The proposed building demonstrates the client’s commitment to sustainability by targeting LEEDv4 Platinum certification, WELL Standard Platinum certification, and the Canada Green Building Council’s Zero Carbon Building Program.
In short, this building is envisioned to be a carbon capture-and-storage machine that can seriously control carbon emissions.
As the client reaches an important anniversary, the new building will be a landmark facility, serving the organization well into the future.
With convenient transit access to the Don Valley Parkway, and access to recreation via the adjacent Don Valley ravine and the new Meadoway Park, the building will become a new centre for the organization’s employees and partners.

“It has been a pleasure working with Sustainable and, more specifically, with Paul Dowsett. Sustainable was able to ignite the imagination of our members and the project became a reality with your assistance. Detailed reports and presentations demonstrate a design concept that exceeds our expectations.
The architects developed a structure that provides efficiency of space, excels in environmental performance, captures market attention, improves our workplace environment, helps to alter City Planning for the benefit of our site, and establishes the foundation for future site development.
All the above demonstrate that design excellence was achieved.”
